About

Amanda Crawford (b. 1984, Dallas, TX) is an artist based in Florence Italy. Self-taught, her paintings are her own interpretation of uninhibited and instinctive approach to materials, compositions and idea. Crawford's exploration results in work that is honest, relatable and allows viewers to gain an insight into raw creativity.

Her Italian and Native American heritage influenced her creative expression from an early age. Her journey as an artist began when she connected with an artwork that evoked an emotional and physical reaction, one that resonated in the core of her soul, unexplainable in words, while observing a painting depicting a Native American falling short of rescuing one of his own from soldiers on horseback. It was this moment that she understood what art meant to her.

Her inspiration is drawn from her life experiences, memories, and worldview. Making art is a means of processing these life cycles. As the work evolves the more Amanda relates, making it quite difficult to surrender her works.

Crawford’s art practice embodies a wealth of artistic, aesthetic and diverse styles that peek your interest, draw you in, and interact with you. They generate feelings and emotions that affect our attitudes and actions. Her paintings, both in form and color, are meant to encourage the viewer to meditate on their own personal narrative.
